These antennas then direct the signals to the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR) and then to the appropriate modules. In this article we will introduce you to the system and help you better understand the key fob programming process. Each C6 Corvette is equipped with 4 antennas; one in each door, one in the rear decklid, and one low frequency antenna located in the glove box compartment. Body Control Module (BCM) This module sends starter and fuel enable signals to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) when the correct key fob information is received from the RCDLR. Key FobTransmitter Two transmitters are shipped with every Corvette purchased from the dealer. Only two key fobs will be programmed to the memory package of the vehicle, the other two will only control the door and engine start functions. Door Control Modules (DCM) These modules are found in each door and communicate with the BCM to lock and unlock the doors. If auto lock is enabled, the car may lock itself and activate the anti-theft deterrent system during the procedure. Procedure 2 (The LONG Version) can only be performed by a dealer. Cell phone signals could interfere with the programming antenna, disrupting the process. This will prevent the car from starting and the car will not be able to accept a new key fob until the slot is fixed. Key fobs for European Corvette models must be programmed by a dealer. If you want the key fobs to be programmed according to number, the order in which the fobs are placed in the glove box slot determines which number is on the fob. Dead Fob C6 Corvette Driver Information CenterThe Driver Information Center (DIC) will beep and read Ready for fob 3. PLACE the metal key back into the key fob and INSERT the currently programmed key fob into the glove box slot. Must be positioned properly, read red text above for proper positioning instructions.) If the key fob slot is working and is presented with a known fob which is ALREADY programmed to the car, the DIC will read Known Fob. If this message does not show up, the slot is not working properly and it is strongly advised not to continue with the programming until the slot is fixed. PRESS the bottom half of the start button to end the testing session. If the antenna is defective, a new one can be purchased below.
